On September 28 — the 6th of Tishrei — the Wilmington Jewish community gathered to celebrate a major milestone: the official launch of the Wilmington Jewish Community Center Capital Campaign. The event brought together community members, supporters, and friends for an inspiring evening filled with warmth, connection, and vision for the future. Guests enjoyed delicious refreshments and cocktails while exploring detailed renderings and the building’s floor plan, offering a glimpse into the transformative project ahead. The architect, interior designer, and contractor were on hand to answer questions and discuss the design process, helping attendees imagine the vibrant new space that will serve as a hub for Jewish life in Wilmington. A highlight of the evening was the presence of Mayor Bill Saffo, who addressed the gathering and shared his enthusiasm for the project and its impact on the broader Wilmington community. His participation underscored the significance of this development not only for the Jewish community but for the city as a whole. The event also brought exciting news: thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Nir Family, every donation to the campaign — up to three million dollars — will be matched dollar for dollar. This incredible matching gift doubles the impact of every contribution, meaning a $1,000 donation becomes $2,000, and a $10,000 gift grows to $20,000. This is a remarkable and unprecedented opportunity for supporters to play a vital role in shaping the future of the community center while maximizing their impact. Sponsorship opportunities remain available for those who wish to dedicate a portion of the project in memory or in honor of someone special.
